Frequently Asked Questions

What is the benefit of Colon hydrotherapy?

People receive colon hydrotherapy for a variety of personal and holistic wellness

reasons. Some of the most common benefits of colon hydrotherapy are ridding

the body of excess waste materials. Toxins from this waste buildup re-enter and

circulate in the bloodstream leaving an individual feeling ill, tired or weak.

Impacted materials impair the colon to assimilate minerals and good

bacteria. Additionally, a build up of material on the colon wall can inhibit

muscular action causing sluggish bowel movements and constipation. The colon

is an important organ of elimination and vital in detoxifying the body as a whole.

Is the process embarrassing?

Your entire session and consultation at Lavage Total Body Cleansing is

conducted within the privacy of you and your therapist. The consultation takes

place at the time of your scheduled appointment. You will be provided with the

level of privacy you request while always having a therapist moments from you.

Our atmosphere provides a safe, relaxing and comfortable setting for the entire

service time to uphold each client dignity and eliminate any feelings of

embarrassment or unease.

How big is the rectal nozzle?

The one time use, sterile, self inserted rectal nozzle is approximately the size of

a pencil. Each client is given specific instructions on methods to insert the

nozzle gently and effectively. With the ergonomic design of the nozzle, it is only

necessary to insert approximately 1” to 1.5” to complete the session.

What is the difference between colon hydrotherapy and an enema or laxative?

The Colon Hydrotherapy session will clean and cleanse the entire 5 feet of the

large intestines through water integration that softens and releases build up on

the intestinal wall. Traditional enemas will only clean the lower portion of the

colon including the descending and sigmoid colon regions. Laxatives often

encourage muscular contractions which help the body to eliminate waste, but

do not soften or effectively remove build up from the intestinal wall.

How often should I have colon hydrotherapy?

Each person will experience a different result from an individual colon

hydrotherapy session or a group of sessions. The Colon Hydrotherapist will

make recommendations regarding follow up sessions based on the results from

the initial session and each client self reported goals.

The Naturopathic approach recommends two sessions within two weeks.

Following this initial detoxification the therapist will recommend a program

based upon your needs and goals.

We offer individual sessions, multi-session packages consisting of 3, 6, 9, or 12

sessions over a period of time.. This allows for an ease into the process both

physically and financially.

Is colon hydrotherapy safe and sterile?

Lavage Total Body Cleansing has the FDA approved medical grade colonic

devices. This device is FDA approved due to its increased safety features such as

temperature and pressure controls as well as sterilization of water along with

sediment filters and UV light filters. Additionally, all disposable items used for

each individual session are (one) time use, and discarded appropriately

following a hydrotherapy session.

I've heard colon hydrotherapy flushes out necessary good bacteria from the intestines.
Is this safe?

Colon Hydrotherapy eliminates all bad and good bacteria from the colon.

However, it also creates an environment that encourages reestablishment of

good bacteria that will replenish safety and quickly. The consumption of proper

foods or a probiotic will foster the growth of good bacteria while deterring the

bad bacteria from growing.

Can colon hydrotherapy be used to prepare for a Colonoscopy?

Colon hydrotherapy is a safe and effective preparation for a routine

Colonoscopy. Most commonly it is recommended that 2 colon hydrotherapy

sessions be completed on back to back days as closely to the Colonoscopy as

possible. It is always encouraged that you speak with your physician about this

method of preparation for your procedure prior to.
